We seek software related Work-Based Learning placements lasting 15 weeks (minimum) to 7 months (maximum) for our year two Foundation Degree Software Engineering students from Belfast Met. They are in preparation for their progression to the second year of the Software Engineering Hons. Degree at Ulster University. Real-life work experience is a fundamental and mandatory component of the FDSE course. The placements start 21 January 2019.
Modules already studied include: Java programming (3 modules), Web Programming (2 modules), Database and Systems Development, Hardware and Operating Systems and Mathematics for Software Engineering. Students on placement have become testers, software developers including app development, designed web sites and maintained databases. The long-term employment rate is 25% with 60% continuing their studies.
