This month's Belfast Ruby Meetup will be hosted by ShopKeep and will cater to both experienced Ruby devs and newcomers, as we explore two very different topics.
Test Driven Development
The first talk will be led by Barry Gordon from ShopKeep. As a follow up to last month's introduction to Ruby and Rails, Barry will be talking about Test Driven Development (TDD), discussing how you can use the TDD principles in your Ruby development process.
Jekyll and Github Pages
Following on from Barry, will be Coby Chapple from GitHub. Coby will walk through how to set up a free website using Jekyll, a ruby-based open source static site generator, and deploy it using GitHub Pages. While targeted at beginners, even regular rubyists might be surprised at what’s possible!
After the talks, you can get involved in the practical workshops. There will be guidance on how to get set up with Ruby Koans, a great tool for using TDD to learn Ruby. We'll also lend a hand in getting your Jekyll sites up and running on the night, just remember to bring your laptop.
