Making the Jump to Ruby

Web at 21 Social, Belfast

UPDATE 24 Jan 2012 14:00: Due to the overwhelming response we are now hosting the first meetup on the 1st Floor of 21 Social, down in the Cathedral Quarter, in Belfast. More info to follow

The first Belfast Ruby Meetup will broach the topic of "Making the Jump to Ruby". It’s never an easy decision for a developer to change languages but most who move to Ruby and Rails never look back!

This first meetup is a chance to talk to experienced Ruby developers and recent migrants about the differences between languages and their cultures, what makes Ruby so great, and how to get started.

There'll be a bar and some food!

Agenda

  • 18:30 Doors Open
  • 19:00 Introduction
  • 19.10 Two short Talks about why jump to Ruby
  • 19:30 Breakout/Practical sessions on getting started
  • 20:30 Panel (Q&A)

To register for this event, use the Register button over on the right!

hopefully some stuff aimed at us not-so-techy types too (who are a little overwhelmed by what is the "best" language to choose for projects!) ;)
