MoMoBelfast 5G Series:- Building 5G Networks

Mobile at ECIT building, Belfast

As the commercial launch of 5G is drawing nearer (2018), thanks to combined promo efforts of Ericsson, Intel and GSMA, we have decided to run a series of 5G events between April and December 2017.

To follow the excellent structure of Deloitte TMT, we’ll run the following five events:

[1] Building 5G Networks (foundational technologies, what 5G and LTE/LTE-A share in common, logistics for densification of the network, city and in-building coverage)

[2] Marketing 5G (use cases that will sell 5G)

[3] The Evolution of Mobile Apps with 5G (how should enterprises experiment with new products and services based on higher speeds, greater capacity and lower cost per Gb, the rise of VR, the enterprise IoT space, …)

[4] 5G - The Fixed Line Replacement (or “wireless Fiber” as the CEO of Verizon said in February, will BT’s and Virgin’s ground cables be made redundant?)

[5] Implications of 5G for Mobile Networks (what to do with 2G spectrum, will GPRS survive? will 3G be relevant in 2022?).

We shall start on 26th April with a look at the foundational technologies underpinning 5G, at The Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at the ECIT Institute, the home of 5G technology in NI. Speakers tba soon!
