Blick Shared Studios invites applications for a fixed-term 6 month Community & Studio Management paid internship beginning in October 2017 until March 2018. This programme is supported by Arts Council and Northern Ireland Creative Employment Programme.

The Community and Studio Management Intern will work as part of the Blick team based within Belfast, but also supporting our work in Eighty81 in Derry/Londonderry. The intern will support the management team of Blick Shared Studios to help us strengthen the Blick community – residents, clients and the wider creative community, through better administration, communications, marketing, events and facilities management.

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter, with a positive can-do attitude and a desire to build a career within and make positive changes to the creative industries sector within Northern Ireland. We would like to support someone within this internship opportunity who has a passion for doing, who is keen to get involved and get things done. Someone who would like to learn new things, have new experiences and challenges and develop their skills and contacts. We would like to work with someone creative, who has new ideas and an entrepreneurial mindset, who can contribute to the impact and growth of our organisation and has an interest in becoming a long-term member of the Blick team following the end of the internship.

Working alongside the Blick Shared Studios team you will gain experience working in a busy, sustainable, independent and growing creative industries organisation. You will gain practical experience in arts administration, facilities management and marketing and events.

Summary of role

This is a varied role, including administration of client paperwork and contracts, dealing with phone and email enquiries, managing communications with Blick residents and community members, by email, website and social media, events management and administration and assisting Blick management with operations and building management.

As well as the above practical and administrative tasks, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Blick team on organising, marketing and delivering a wide variety of creative events and activities including Belfast Design Week, 25 Pop Up, Blick Academy, Share 6, Late Night Design and internal residents events in a role that will be flexible and varied.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will:

Support Blick management to run a successful creative industries support organisation Work within the Blick team to help us improve and strengthen the Blick community – Blick residents, clients, stakeholders and the wider creative community through better communication – online, through the Blick website, monthly newsletter, social media and emails and through targeted, bespoke events and activities Be supported and mentored throughout the internship by the Blick tea Deal with phone and email enquiries, mail handling and administration of client paperwork and contracts Manage communications with Blick residents and community members and deal with tenant and client queries and communications Assist Blick Management with operations and building management including: building maintenance, managing relationships with cleaners and building contractors, health and safety and fire safety compliance Assist with event management, administration and marketing Contribute to programming creative enterprise support events and activities and share ideas to improve the impact and management of the organisation with the Blick team Criteria

Essential Criteria

•GCSE Maths and English –Grade C or above;

•Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) or above

•Unemployed, on a zero hours contract or working in an unrelated sector at time of application. Please note those in full time education are not eligible;

•Aged 18 –24 yrs (NI Creative Employment Programme requirement);

•Good knowledge and understanding of Microsoft word, excel and general computer proficiency;

•Excellent written and oral communication skills;

•Ability to work as part of a team;

•Ability to plan and organise own workload and meet schedule deadlines;

•A genuine interest in the creative industries;

•Motivated, hands on and with a strong initiative.

Desirable criteria:

Admin experience

Design/photography skills Blogging/writing skills Social media experience University graduate or a qualification in a relevant creative industries or business subject Salary

30 hours a week at £7.05/hour
