Collaboration indeed is the life blood of our industry.
We will collaborate with the ICT industry through Momentum, the Film and Television industry through Northern Ireland Screen, and the Music industry through the Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission. Together we will capitalise on the potential of Convergence to satisfy consumer demands.
Investment, R&D & Innovation, Internationalisation and Skills & Training will be critical to the success and sustainability of the digital content sector.
The industry plans to establish a number of action groups in these areas to assist the implementation of the strategy. We need to ensure that we are Investor Ready and more attractive to investment institutions and bodies by building relationships, understanding more about their processes and helping them to understand the digital content opportunity.
We have begun working with Skillset, the sector skills council to build a framework for the delivery of the right training needed for our industry in Northern Ireland.
We will link businesses with the two Universities and their research centres. The Further and Higher Education Colleges will also be important partners. Sharing ideas and problems will also assist us to “work smarter” and get our products to market faster.
Risk taking is part and parcel of any economy but even more so in digital media where emerging channels are being created and overtaking others overnight.
Collectively we can increase our visibility in the global marketplace and the sharing of knowledge and market data will help our industry as a whole.
The industry in Northern Ireland is diverse however we have talents that include creativity, innovation and a will to succeed. Now is the time for us to build the intellectual property that will sustain our industry and our long-term future.
