Updates on Digital Circle LinkedIn group

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Earlier in November I created a LinkedIn group for the Digital Circle and blogged about it.

Digital Circle now has 17 members listed on LinkedIn - ranging from photographers to VJs to web developers. At the moment, the only news on there is the adding of members but I hope that individuals would take the opportunity to make links with other members within the group and also make formal recommendations of people they have worked with.

LinkedIn is a business network which has a mechanism for finding people. In the past I’ve searched for companies I wanted to get a contact in and used the Introductions feature to find my way to them via people I know. This may, inadvertently, take you through another route and in my case it did and we were introduced to more potential business through the facilitation process.

In my opinion, more people should make use of it.

LinkedIn Group for Digital Circle

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

We’ve now created a LinkedIn group for Digital Circle.

It’s just, along with 38minutes.co.uk, another way for Digital Content creators and managers to connect and collaborate. Just earlier today I used the LinkedIn network to talk to senior folk at Electronic Arts and Marvel - it’s that good!

TECH Exiles will feature quick pitches from NI’s most promising early start ventures in four sectors:
*Hi-Tech*
*Biotech*
*CleanTech*
*Digital Media*

Northern Ireland has an exciting emerging community of science and technology start-up ventures. Key to the success of any venture is access to networks of trusted, experienced and connected individuals who can provide access to talent, capital or markets. The majority of local start-ups do not have strong networks or the resources to develop them. At the same time Northern Ireland has an extensive Diaspora of successful science and technology industry executives and professionals working in established corporations in the UK, Ireland, EMEA and Americas etc. Many have a desire to return home or to develop stronger relationships with NI ventures in a similar domain.

NISP CONNECT’s Tech Exiles is an annual event during the week between Xmas and New Year when many of our Exiles return home for Christmas. The goal is to facilitate the creation of many new relationships between Northern Ireland’s venture community and our Diaspora
